Abstract

|
Object : The purpose of this study was to vocational training program that was carried out from the point of view of occupational therapy is to let examine the impact on the adaptation to the community adult developmental disabilities.
Methods : This study was carried out for 3 hours five days a week from March to December 2013 targeting 13 people among 20 adults with developmental disabilities participating in vocational education program currently conducted by Daejeon Health College operation treatment. CIS-A, ERS, VALPAR 17, & LOTCA evaluations were used before and after intervention to examine the effect of vocational education program consisting of self management education, vocation basic ability education, and duty on the community adaptation of adults with developmental disabilities. Wilcoxon code rank test of test was conducted in order to verify the difference before and after intervention.
Result : As a result of conducting vocational education program, the community adaptation of adults with developmental disabilities was improved compared to before intervention. As a result of CIS-A, ERS, VALPAR 17 & LOTCA evaluation conducted before and after, the score was improved partially which showed the statistically significant difference, and basic life ability, personal relations ability, social self-reliance ability, and vocational life ability were improved.
Conclusion : It was determined through the study result that vocational education program had the effect on the community adaptation of adults with developmental disabilities. Therefore, it is necessary to study future vocational education program targeting adults with developmental disabilities of several classes in connection with mediation period, various programs, and several jobs.
